Faye Blackstone, age 96, died August 30, 2011, at ManateeMemorialHospitalin Bradenton, Florida. She was born June 3, 1915 on a ranch in Nebraska. She rode her horse to school and taught her self to trick ride on the way. By the time she finished high school she was a well-accomplished trick rider. She invented several trick riding tricks including the Reverse Fender Drag and the Fly Away. She was also responsible for introducing Barrel Racing as a competition to Floridacompetitors. She won the 1953 and 1956 Florida Barrel Racing Championship.
