Billy Martin Rides to the Top of Non Pro Derby Senior Division

Billy Martin, Millsap, TX has been showing cutting horses for close to 40 years. And, remarkably, he has bred, raised and trained the majority of the horses that have carried him to his $550,612 in lifetime earnings. Laredo Montana is no exception. On Thursday, the homegrown gelding by Light N Lena and out of Little Memory Maker, by Peppy San Badger, assisted Martin in laying down a 216 run that earned the top spot in the preliminary round of Senior Division competition within this year’s Non-Pro Derby. The experience could also be a shot of déjà vu for Billy, since he also rode the horse’s sire to the same division championship at the Breeder’s Invitational a few years back.
