It was an all or nothing situation for Weatherford trainer Paul Hansma Tuesday evening. After a disappointing 211 in the first go aboard Nurse Connie, Hansma knew he would need to mark a 220 at the very least to inch into the final round of this year’s Open Derby. As the eighth horse out in the eighth bunch, the two did just that to ride the bubble into the Open Derby work-offs. “It was all or nothing,” Hansma said following his feat. “I kind of had to go for it. You never know if you’re really ready. I had some cows in mind. I went and cut it and it worked out really good.
