Wes Galyean and Hangum Cat Lead 1st Round of Breeders Invitaional Open Derby

After two days, 14 sets and 209 horses, the dust settled on the first round of 2009 Open Derby competition. And, when that dust settled, Hangum Cat and Wes Galyean had risen to the top of the proverbial heap. A son of Highbrow Cat out of Hangem High Playboy, by Freckles Playboy, Hangem Cat and Galyean supplied the surprise finish Monday evening when they laid down a 220 performance as the 195th horse to work in the first elimination round of the event.
Boyd Rice had single-handedly held the top score of 219 through 156 works, then picked up a tie buddy when Grant Setnicka piloted Dual R Smokin to a matching 219.
